The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, received the US Deputy
Assistant Secretary of State for Rule of Law and International Drug
Traffic, Alexander Arvizu, who was accompanied by the US Ambassador,
Donald Lu.

DP said that drug, decriminalization, corruption and elections were the focus of this meeting.

Basha shared his concern for the growth of drug cultivation and traffic throughout the territory of our country.

“Our partners have blocked record-breaking quantities of drug coming from Albania, from land, air and sea”, Basha said.

The opposition leader said that the turning of Albania into a drug depot is a direct consequence of the criminalization of politics and the public administration.

Another concern that Mr.Basha shared with the high-level officials was the unprecedented corruption, according to him, in 25 years of democracy.

Basha said that Dibra was the clear example of what elections may risk because of drugs and corruption money.
