The leaders of Albania’s three major parties will meet with the US and
EU ambassadors today at 16:00, at the Albanian Parliament, a meeting
proposed by the leader of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Ilir
Meta, who gave the idea of creating an interim government.

The Democratic Party accepted the invitation of Ilir Meta for such a meeting format, and supported the idea of an interim government. When asked by Top Channel if the meeting will be used to discuss about the interim government, sources from the DP confirmed they are only prepared for the justice reform.

For the international partners, Thursday is the day of truth, when they will learn who supports the justice reform and who doesn’t.

This was the message given by the European MP, Knut Fleckenstein, after meeting with Edi Rama, Ilir Meta and then Lulzim Basha, accompanied by the EU Ambassado, Romana Vlahutin.

The European MP said that the draft is on the table and it has the approval of the EU and USA. This is why they expect the Parliament to vote it.

“We hope for a vote in favor of the reform and we would see the leaders come up with compromise, even in the last minute”, Fleckenstein said, explaining that he supports the efforts of the Parliament Speaker for consensus.

As final solution, Fleckenstein proposed to have citizens vote the fate of this reform in a referendum.
