Besides losing their loved ones, grieving families will also have to face the difficulty of finding room for a grave, since existing cemeteries are out of space.

The Albanian government passed a law in 2015 that allowed private cemeteries, as an effort to resolve this issue.

A parcel of land in Paskuqan was allowed to turn into a private cemetery, but a recent government decision canceled it and removed the license from the private subject.

The decision was proposed by the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, who explained her arguments for Top Channel.

“The decision was taken because there has been no progress with investments from the company in the past two years. Therefore, the Ministry decided to cancel the decision to make way for other investors who may show interest in this project”, Balluku declared.

One solution found by citizens to this problem, is to create family graves, putting several family members in the same place.
