For about two hours, the Re-establishment group of the democratic opposition protested today in front of the municipality of Tirana, demanding that the mayor Erion Veliaj leave his post after the corruption arrests of some of his directors.

In about 120 minutes, the protesters threw Molotov bombs at the entrance of the building, threw eggs and apples, and tried to break the police cordon to enter the municipality.

After two hours ‘Rithemelimi’ brought the protest to a close even though they had asked for permission until 20:00 for the event.

This is the fourth protest of the opposition group against the mayor, whose officials have already been arrested for corruption and abuse of office by the special anti-corruption prosecution.

Numerous police forces prevented further damage that would be caused by the hundreds of protesters.

The next demonstration was announced for Tuesday at 16:30.
