Poland, a country that went through the same experience as Albania to join the EU, is in favor of the Western Balkans joining the Union.

The Polish Foreign Minister, Jacek Czaputowicz, said in a joint press release with his Albanian counterpart that a concrete date would give real hopes.

“Since countries like Bulgaria and Romania have the presidency of the EU, it is the right time to underline the importance of the enlargement project, by giving a specific date”, Czaputowicz declared.

He added that there is a group in the EU that supports the enlargement, and Albania must cooperate with this group to keep the enlargement channel open”, the Polish Foreign Minister said.

Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, was asked about the negotiations with Greece. He said that the negotiations should open a new chapter between both countries, while a given date for joining the EU, as stated by the Polish Foreign Minister, would not be a definitive goal but would help develop having a healthy process.
