MP Hafizi: “President must be elected by the people”

Socialist Party MP, Mimoza Hafizi, declared that a group of Parliament
Members, such as Arta Dade, Luljeta Arapi, Agron Duka, Dashamir Shehi,
Eduard Selami, Nard Ndoka, Tahir Muhedini, Vangjel Dule, Ben Blushi and
herself, have declared an initiative for making constitutional amends
that will allow the people to vote for their President.
“This constitution allows the parties to decide for the President, while citizens are not allowed to decide. The president becomes this way a very weak figure. Albania has suffered due to party disagreements, which have not brought more democracy or welfare. Their decisions will not be discussed or challenged”, Hafizi declared.
“We have proposed to have a persident that is elected by the people, same as in the USA, France, Brasil, Poland and Romania. We have started an electronic petition on change.org, which has received the signatures of 8000 Albanians. Every signature is a hit against the current political system”, Hafizi declared.
