Ermal Meta, from Fier, Albania, to winner of Sanremo

Ermal Meta won the biggest prize of the Italian music, the Festival of Sanremo.

Meta was only 13-year-old when he left Albania, to continue his musical dream in Italy.

Meta has told for Top Channel his adventure which culminated with the victory of Sanremo.

Meta dedicates the victory to his publishing house, saying they trusted in him when anyone else couldn’t.

The victory came after a temporary suspension for a regulation breach, but after an investigation, Meta continued the race and even won.

“Music can reach where words are unable to penetrate”, said Meta and Moro, giving an important message against terror.

“I write so that I can feel. It’s an internal instinct, and it is important to make things with transparency”, Meta said.

The Albanian songwriter was born in Fier, which he left when he was 13-years-old for Bari, Italy, where he lived for 20 years, until he moved to Milan.

He has always mentioned his Albanian aorigin, and he believes that he will die where he was born. |

In his “Vietato Morire” song Meta mentions his teacher, Margarita, which today feels proud for her student’s victory.

His career started as a guitar player for Ameba 4 and as songwriter for Italian artists, such as Marci Mengoni, Emma, Chiara, Annalisa, Lorenzo Fragola, Giussy Ferri, etc.
