The Supreme Court in Zagreb returned for review the verdict of the First
Instance Court of Dubrovnik, which allowed Ismail Morina to be
extradited to Serbia.

Morina was detained in Croatia by an international order issued by Serbia, after he flew a drone on Belgrade’s stadium during the Albania-Serbia match, with a slogan about “Greater Albania”.

Although there is no final verdict yet, this decision of the Zagreb Court is seen as a small victory for Morina, and also a success for the Albanian authorities and their efforts to stop the extradition.

A few days ago the Albanian Justice Ministry sent to their counterpart in Zagreb arguments why Morina should not be extradited to Serbia. They provided evidence why Morina will have his life threatened in Serbia and his human rights violated.

The Albanian Football Federation also provided the arguments of the CAS verdict, which explained how during that match in Belgrade, Serbian fans were using violent slogans against Albanians and how even the Belgrade stadium staff was involved in attacking Albania’s football players, rather than protecting them.
