After the camp in Gjadri , the implementation of the agreement with Italy for refugees from third countries, has also started in Shengjin in the northwestern coast of Albania.
It’s two days since workers have descended on the ground, where the place designated inside the port for the establishment of the reception center was initially surrounded.
The area determined for the establishment of the reception center is about 4 thousand square meters and will not affect the work of the port of Shengjin, says director Sandër Marashi, according to whom the first group of refugees is expected to arrive in May.
Referring to the agreement between the Albanian and Italian Governments, refugees from third countries will enter Albania through the port of Shengjin where they will stay in quarantine for 48 hours in the reception center and then they will be moved to the camp that is being built in the village of Gjadër, 35 km from the one in Shengjin.
According to the data, the construction of camps and infrastructure is expected to be completed within 3 months, and the first group of refugees from Italy is expected to arrive in the summer.
