A natural monument being destroyed

After the Erzen River, which is going towards its destruction due to
illegal exploitations, Tirana might lose yet another natural monument.
“Shkallet e Tujanit”, or differently known as the “Brari Canyons”, which
are situated within the Dajti National Park, have been destroyed and
blown up with explosives for several days, since the “Road of Arber” is
planned to pass through this area.
The construction company, without any environmental permission, has caused a considerable damage in this area of the park. After many days of illegal works, Environmental Ministry inspectors have intervened for stopping the works in this part by even giving a fine of 500,000 ALL to the company, while they are making an assessment of the damages caused to this area.
Despite the measures taken by the Ministry of Environment, the work hasn’t stopped completely. Although not with the same pace, the workers are still continuing excavate exactly in the area known as “Shkallet e Tujanit”.
It seems like a déjà vu from the Erzen River destruction, near “Ura e Peshkatarit”, with the responsible institutions remaining silent, including the prosecution.
With this pace of natural and monumental destruction, Albania will soon have nothing to see in her past.
