The terminal of shipping containers will be returned to the Durres Port.
The 35-year-long concession with the Turkish company was canceled by court order, ending this way the monopoly in processing cargos at Albania’s biggest port.
The Ministry of Transport sued the company composed of “Kurum Shipping” and “Global Ports Holding” for violating the concession rules.
The companies had failed to comply with the terms of the contract, such as the mandatory investments for improving their service.
The terminal won the concession in 2011, one of the biggest granted by the Albanian government, creating this way a monopoly in the cargo processing sector.
