The Albanian Prime Minister and opposition leader reacted after the declaration of the US Ambassador, Donald Lu.
The US Ambassador appealed parties to work together for the new Provisory Prosecutor General, and appoint someone who stops defending corrupted politicians.
Rama reiterated his invitation to the Democratic Party leader for dialogue and work together to appoint the Provisory Prosecutor General.
“Let’s put dialogue before any other political instrument. Let’s put Albania’s accession negotiations above anything that divides us as two different parties”, Rama declared.
Basha didn’t change his stance in the answer. The DP leader said that the Democratic Party is reading the constitution, and justice, according to Basha, cannot be reached through party bargains.
“The Prosecutor General needs to be clean, so that he can fight corrupted politicians. The only way to guarantee this is through the Vetting Process, as it is sanctioned by the Constitution”, Basha declared, confirming that the DP will support the vetting law without reserves.
