The 27 laws of the new package for the Justice Reform are not as
important as the first seven ones, but one of them is an effort against
high-level corruption, since it aims illegal assets.

The amendment of the asset audit law was made in cooperation with US partners. Its five points seem to have been conceived as a vetting for the assets of Albanian high-level politicians.

The new law reduces the number of those who are bound to declare their assets, in order to focus on the people with more power and who administer public funds and assets.

By request of the US experts in OPDAT, the law forces high-level officials to declare their movable assets, since officials may be able not own an asset, but still use it.

The law changes the declaration form, forcing subjects to also declare how their wealth has changed during one year.

The documents that inspectors gather during the investigation, may be used as evidence in a criminal process. This law aims to make the Chief Inspector for Declaration and Audit of Assets more independent from politics.
