The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, criticized the opposition’s stance against his ideas for “correcting” the border with Serbia, as a way to reach a final agreement for the normalization of relations between both countries.
Thaci said that since the day when they declared the independence, Kosovo has never had the right international attention, starting from the USA, Germany, France, Italy, England and almost every other state in the EU that are involved for reaching a peace agreement.
“The main reason of this agreement, which is a very difficult one, is the recognition of Kosovo by Serbia and our accession in the EU, NATO and the UN. While we have the powerful allies on one hand, ready to help our country, unfortunately, on the other hand, we have an opposition, supported by lonely voices from the civil society, who consider this support as malicious for Kosovo”, Thaci wrote.
The opposition parties in Kosovo want to hold an extraordinary session on September 4th, to approve a resolution which doesn’t allow the president or any other institution to negotiate the territorial integrity of Kosovo.
And even the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, said that he would support such resolution, underlining that his government supports a legally bound agreement between Kosovo and Serbia for mutual recognition.
