Maritime border agreement with Greece, President Meta consults predecessor

Sources from the Presidency confirmed that the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs has made the permit request for negotiating the maritime border with Greece.

Today at 08:00 in the morning, President Meta received former President Nishani, to consult him.

President Meta is expected to be consulted with other former Presidents within two days.

The request is made by the Foreign Ministry before experts sit to discuss the maritime borders.

The Foreign Ministry said that the permit to is needed only when both delegations start working with the map.

The criteria agreed on for the maritime border are those of the equidistance principle of 12 miles, from which both Greece and Albania will benefit, taking more territory than in 1913.
