On the International Day of Environment, many Tirana’s young citizens went on Albania’s capital streets, thanking cyclist for their choice by donating them LED lamps.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, joined the initiative and said that the best way to celebrate the International Day of Environment would be giving a concrete contribution for protecting the environment.
Veliaj appreciated the decision taken by the Albanian government to stop using plastic bags, which will help reduce pollution, and added that it is time for Tirana and Albania to be avant-garde in the efforts for banning plastic bags.
Veliaj thanked the citizens who joined the Tirana Municipality initiatives, such as planting trees and using electric vehicles.
