Three years have passed since the privatization of the energy distribution enterprise in Albania, but problems have not changed. CEZ directors said that they have difficulties for cashing the energy bills.

“Although we are working harder and we are using all possible cashing means, from power cuts to suing the debtors, cashing levels are still low. This weak performance is affecting the speed of our investments for the improvement of the network”, said Alesh Konrad, director of CEZ.

According to official data, by the end of 2006, the debt created by the families that have unpaid energy bills was almost 38 billion ALL.

The rate of the debts has increased even after the distribution was detached by the production and was privatized.

“The total debt that has been created since January 1st 2007 goes to 23 billion ALL, 5 billion of which are unpaid bills from public institutions of  state property or not”, Konrad emphasized.

The directors of Albanian Energetic Corporation gave these declarations on a press conference with the media, notifying that the consumers could check their energy bills even online.
