The issue of the election results for the Tirana Municipality suddenly
took another direction. The Chairman of the Central Election Commission
(CEC) ordered an act that will solve the issue of the votes found in the
wrong ballot box.
Chairman Arben Ristani said that CEC has received from Zonal Election Commissions (ZEC) no 46, 48, 49, 51, 53, 54 and 55 different concerns for evaluating these votes that were found. According to him, some ZECs have announced this votes as invalid, others as contested.
According to Ristani, for the Municipality of Tirana, CEC acts at the same time as Central Election Commission but also as Zonal Election Commission, unifying this way the whole practice.
Ristani tried to end the debate by ordering his administration to prepare a draft-act for unifying the practice. In other words, CEC will act as super-ZEC for 11 Tirana ZECs, in order to have an equal judgment on the votes that were found inside the wrong ballot boxes.
