The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, declared in a press release this Saturday that the Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, rather than reflecting on the critics of Gunther Krichbaum, decided to slander against him.

“The worst thing with this campaign is that it is paid by the dirty money of Edi Rama, Saimir Tahiri and Erion Veliaj. This act damages our country’s interest. With these attacks Rama is increasing the number of German MPs who are pessimistic about opening the accession negotiations with Albania”, Basha underlined.

After the DP leader met in Berlin with Gunther Krichbaum, the latter said for Deutsche Welle that the recommendation of the European Commission will not be the only document that will be taken in consideration.

“Albania’s EU perspective is realistic. Albania is a candidate member, but we will read the progress-report with great attention, because the EU recommendation is not enough. I want to consult other reports before taking this decision, such as Transparency International, the World Bank and other international reports”, Krichbaum said.
