Basha: “I did the right thing”

The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, defended his decision for the
list of candidates which left out of Parliament critics of his work,
although they were founders and important figures of the Democratic
Party.
But after this decision, the leader of the Shkoder Democratic Part, Ramiz Cobaj, resigned from the list of candidates chosen by Basha. Cobaj was listed eighth in Shkoder.
“This is the new, courageous republic. We need to break the prejudice within ourselves first”, Basha said, adding that he is convinced that this is the right decision.
“Having elites circulate is a law in European politics, otherwise it turns into a monarchy”, he said.
He didn’t react to the request for having him removed from party leader, but he criticized those who accused him: “You love the party when you are MP, but you don’t love it when you are not MP? Then it is not about the party, it is about the post”, Basha added.
