During the process for the extradition of the former Foreign Ministry
employee Almir Rrapo to USA, the Prosecution asked Judge Antonela Prendi
to consider his extradition as legal, although the 28-year-old is
already in USA, facing trial.
The request for considering the extradition as legal was supported by some documents sent by USA, which stated that the Albanian defendant had admitted the accusations.
The case of Almir Rrapo showed how the Albanian courts drag trials.
More concretely, the Court of Tirana and that of Appeals confirmed Rrapo’s extradition, but the delayed decision of the Supreme Court returned the case for review, in the first degree again.
The file was turned for being reviewed in the time when Almir Rrapo was handed over to the US authorities.
