Belgrade officials threaten Kosovo Serbs before elections

Representatives of some Serb parties in Kosovo were quoted by Radio Free
Europe that Belgrade was pressuring citizens to vote the Serbian List,
while the five other Serbian parties are receiving various forms of
threats.

The outgoing Prime Minister Vucic, also President of Serbia, appealed Kosovo Serbs to vote only of one out of the six parties, the “Serbian List”. He has even said that some international and Albanian authorities are buying Serbs, so that they can have enough Serbian MPs to vote the creation of the Kosovo army.

Nenad Rashic, leader of the Democratic Progressive Party, a Serbian political party in Kosovo, said for Radio Free Europe that official Belgrade has never tried to unify the political representatives of Serbs in Kosovo, but has divided them in good Serbs and bad Serbs.

According to him, the Belgrade government is diving them into Northern Serbs and Southern Serbs, and has shown tendency to give posts only to Northern Serbs. For Rashic, this behavior from Belgrade is a form of pressure.

Aleksandar Jablanovic, former founder of the “Serbian List”, now leader of the Serbian Party of Kosovo, said for Radio Free Europe that Belgrade is making a mistake by taking the side of only one party.

Representatives of Serbian population in Kosovo have 10 fixed Parliamentary seats of out 120 in total.
