Gent Sejko, Governor of the Bank of Albania, announced the latest evaluations about our country’s economy.

“The latest statistics show the economy is still growing. Growth sources are getting stronger. Foreign demand has given a positive contribution”, Sejko said.

The Governor says the economic growth is supported by an increased optimism of businesses and consumers in Albania, but also due to the improved economic situation in the Eurozone.

“The internal demand has benefited from the increased employment, from stimulating monetary conditions, increased trust of economic agents and direct foreign investments”, Sejko said.

But could the political crisis be a threat for the economy? The Governor said that this will be made clear in the upcoming months.

“We have taken in consideration the history of electoral behaviors in the past years. We have not changed anything in our prediction for the economic growth. It’s to be seen in the next trimester report, depending on the economic progress and other factors”, Sejko added.

The Governor said that the Bank will keep the interest rate at 1.25 at least until the end of the year, since it helps the economy.
