In six months, 60 Roma families affected by the rehabilitation of the
Tirana River, will be accommodated at 60 new social homes that are being
built by the Tirana municipality on a former military area.
“A good city does not choose between new investments and people who have occupied an area illegally for residential purposes . We need to make correct investments, in this case for repairing the embankment of the River, in order to avoid floods; and we are also building social homes to accommodate 400 Roma community members”, Veliaj said.
He underlined that the only condition for these families is to register their children and vaccinate them.
“Their only condition is to register their children for the obligatory attendance in schools and kindergartens, and vaccinate them. Healthy children are a ticket for poor families to make it without needing anymore help from the municipality”, Veliaj said.
The Mayor guaranteed that any replacement of citizens as result of public investment projects will be compensated by creating all necessary conditions.
