This Ministerial meeting gathers for the first time in Tirana the Culture Ministers of Southeastern Europe.

In this meeting, the Ministers of the region, including Albania, signed a cooperation agreement, which, according to the Minister of Culture, Mirela Kumbaro, confirms cooperation beyond cultural heritage related objects, but also for creative industry, through concrete agendas.

Invited at this inauguration titled: “Culture as an incentive for stable development”, was also the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, who said that it is important to find ways to influence the central and local governments through the beauty of art, not only to preserve cultural heritage, but also to make profits.

“I often meet a vulgar critic addressed to our Urban Revival program, a program that aims to revive public spaces through the beauty of art. They tell me ‘there are people who struggle with food, and you invest on facades or illumination’. But there are no ugly countries that also have good economic progress”, the Prime Minister said.

Rama added that the beauty of art is very important for our need to create a harmonious relation between the people of the community and laws, and also for stable development.

“Increasing the culture budget is always relative, because it is never enough. But when is possible to make it profitable for the society, for the country’s development, I believe it’s better to protect, save or restore a cultural heritage object, rather than building 1 kilometer of infrastructure”, Rama added.
