Top Channel’s investigative program, “Fiks Fare”, showed how some ice
cream shoppers recycle unsold product during summer, putting the
citizens’ health at risk.

Journalists, together with National Food Authority Inspectors, have tested ice creams around Tirana, and seven of them had the microbe level up to 30 times higher than allowed.

Ice cream made by milk is very sensible to high temperatures and keeping it cold is an issue of its own. It seems that many Tirana ice cream sellers recycle the product that remains for several days, even when it should not be consumed due to health hazards.

When asked by Top Channel, they even say that they consider this normal. “Meat is kept for months and even years and it doesn’t get spoiled. That’s the same for ice cream”, one of them says.
