The police campaign for forcing the use of seat belts, by increasing the
fine from 5000 to 15000 ALL, seems to have given its effects. Almost
every driver in Tirana has his seat belt on.
Ervin Hasrama, Traffic Police for Tirana, said that the reaction was satisfactory for the seat belt, but they still need to see the implementation of usage of child seats.
“In the first days, police has issued 90-95 fines for the seat belt. We trust that these measures will change people’s behavior, because the seat belt saves lives”, Hasrama said.
