Bylykbashi: “Nuland accepted for no executive competences to international partners”

The Democratic Party MP, Oerd Bylykbashi, Vice Chairman of the Special
Parliamentary Committee for the Justice Reform, claimed that PM Rama is
lying Albanians about what the US Assistant Secretary of the State
Department  had asked from them a few days ago.

He said that Victoria Nuland did not request just a “yes” or “no” from the DP leader for the hybrid proposition of Ambassadors Lu and Vlahutin.

“I was here and this is ridiculous, but the disinformed people of Albania deserve to know that Nuland was against having the Constitutional Court to do the vetting of the candidates who would audit judges and prosecutors.

Mr.Basha expressed the stance of the opposition to have their role in full accordance with recommendation 88 of the Venice Commission, since the proposed role had decision-making competences. Basha accepted to review the role of the Constitutional Court and eliminate the conflict of interest. Of course that the opposition cannot deny this Cour the competence for reviewing human rights.

After underlining that the international partners could not have an executive role, Mrs.Nuland asked Mr.Basha to make his proposition for the role of international observers based on recommendation 88 of the Venice Commission. Basha promised to offer a solution based on the hybrid proposition of Ambassadors and that is what we did. Whoever thinks this is a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ should go back to school or make a conscience examination”.
