The Durres fishing fleet has not been at work for the past four years
due to a lack of satellite localization equipments. Fishermen protest
saying that this is not their fault, but they are still paying for the
consequences.
Everything about the equipment is done through a tender. Fishermen explain why the equipment doesn’t work.
“From 2014 to 2015, we have been allowed to continue our work because the central unit that operates the equipment was not functional. After it was repaired, there have been problems with the ships where it was installed. It is the sixth time that we are blocked because of this”, one protester says.
