The oil spill at the beach of Zvernec has caused not only pollution, but also economic problems, with all exports blocked.

“Petrolifera” is the the main port for oil exports, mainly because of the logistic advantages but also for the lower costs created by the fact that the terminal is close to the biggest oil sources in the country.

There was an oil spill incident one week ago which polluted five kilometers at the Zvernec beach.

The Prosecution blocked the terminal and has started investigations, but this has stopped oil exports too.

Albania exports 20.000 barrels of crude oil a day. The biggest oil exporters say that they are storing the produced quantity in their deposits, but they don’t have enough storage.

If the situation is not unblocked within a few days, they will be forced to reduce the oil production and even stop it completely.
