The Albanian Interior Minister, Fatmir Xhafaj, asked the Director of the Prosecution of Serious Crimes, Besim Hajdarmata, to summon the Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha and former Prime Minister Sali Berisha to testify as people who have information about the 613 kg of cocaine that were seized in Durres.
“From these public declarations, Mr.Sali Berisha and Mr.Lulzim Basha claim that they have information about concrete facts regarding the drug traffic in Albania. According to their public declarations, these persons have information about the people who profited from the cocaine that we seized in Durres”, Xhafaj declared.
Xhafaj said that it is a constitutional obligation of the Democratic Party to tell what they know. The Prosecution is bound by law, according to Xhafaj, to evaluate their claims.
The Democratic Party leader, Lulzim Basha, said that this letter of the Interior Minister sent to the President of the Prosecution of Serious Crimes is a condemnable act. Basha also mentioned two names that are related to PM Rama and Minister Xhafa.
“The certain information that I have, is that if they want to find the courses of cocaine in Albania, they should put under surveillance Olsi Rama (Edi Rama’s brother) and Agron Xhafaj (brother of Interior Minister)”.
