US Ambassador: “Arrest of important figures involved in crime expected in 2018”

The US Ambassador, Donald Lu, greeted the operation “Force of Law”, presented by the Interior Ministry, and for the first time said that they expect results within 2018.
“Let’s speak with actions, not words. We expect this aggressive plan of the Albanian government to be concluded with the arrest of some ‘big fishes’ during the next year, and we also expect this success to continue with SPAC (Special Prosecution Against Corruption)”, the US Ambassador declared.
This is what international partners and Albanian citizens expect, Lu said.
“It is a good start. We like that this action plan clearly admits that the organized crime in Albania is a serious problem and a threat for national security. It also admits that the criminal justice institutions have failed so far in the fight against criminal gangs”, he declared.
The Interior Minister, Fatmir Xhafaj, said that the establishing of this task force is a new and determined approach of the government in the fight against crime.
