02/07/2011 14:45

The Albanian Speaker Jozefina Topalli met in Vilinus the President of the US
Democratic Institute, Ken Wallack, while participating in
the World Forum of Leader Women.

This institution has been contributing in Albania for 20 years, and for Mrs. Topalli, this presence and the support of the US Democratic Institute is very important for the country and for the Albanian democracy.

Both diplomats shared the same thought that Albania successfully passed an important test of democracy with the very competing and transparent elections of May 8th, where the great citizen participation and the appeals at the Electoral College showed that the Albanian vote is free and that the democratic system is working. According to Mrs. Topalli and the President of the US Democratic Institute, May 8th elections were the best and most righteous local elections ever held in Albania so far.

During her visit in Vilinus, the Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Jozefina Topalli, also met her Lithuanian homologue who assured her for the support that Lithuania will continue to give Albania in order to fulfill the integration aspirations towards the European Union.
