The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, said that a review of the border between Kosovo and Serbia could bring the constant tensions to an end, getting both Belgrade and Prishtina closer to EU accession.
Thaci said for Reuters that he would present a plan to the Serbian President this September, in their meeting in Brussels, part of a dialogue sponsored by the EU.
The normalization of the bilateral relations is a key condition for Serbia and Kosovo for their goal to become EU members. The Balkan neighbors agreed in 2013 to start resolving their issues, but there has been small progress so far.
Thaci insists that Kosovo and Serbia should correct their 400-meter-long border, which, according to him, would avoid interethnic confrontations and the creation of an autonomous region, similar to the Serbian Republic in Bosnia.
