Socialist Party sued the “Zgjohu (Wake Up)” movement at the Tirana Prosecution over suspicious financial sources on an illegal press campaign, which Socialist Party deputy Taulant Balla considers as “based on libel and hate speeches against opposition”.

“We are very concerned on what is happening for months with an organization so called “from the civil society”, which is spending and will spend incalculable amounts of money on a press campaign which is based on slander and hate speeches against Socialist Party and Albanian opposition. The managers of this organization do not know and give no explanations on the financial sources of this press campaign that uses, I repeat, slander and hate speeches against opposition”, Balla declared.

“Only on February 2010, this organization has spent on a press campaign more than 500 million lek (5.03 million USD). All this money used on publicity videos filled with hate speeches and lies against the opposition. Where is National Council of Radio and Television? Where is Election Central Commission? They should not allow this organization to use funds for this illegal campaign. What is the source of this money? This money has no other source except that of robbery. Dirty money used on a dishonest press campaign. This is what compels me today, on the behalf of Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, to sue the organization leaders who must respond for the financial sources that sponsor an illegal press campaign”, Balla said.

Socialist Party Deputy, Taulant Balla, asked the Prosecution to shed light on this scandal that involves the managers of the “Zgjohu” movement.
