Serbia “flirts” with NATO

The Serbian President, Alexandar Vucic, is meeting with the NATO General Secretary today in Brussels.

One year ago, Vucic became the first Serbian Prime Minister who shook hands with a nATO leader.

Vucic and Stoltenberg will focus on further cooperation challenges between NATO and Serbia. Together with other NATO ambassadors, they will speak about the current situation in the region, internal reforms in Serbia and Belgrade’s relations with Moscow.

Different from other countries in the region, Serbia does not aspire to become a NATO member, although they have deepened dialogue with the alliance.

The anti-NATO sentiment in Serbia was increased after the alliance bombed Miloshevic’s forces that were committing genocide against Kosovo Albanians, who then declared independence.
