Rama: We won in Tirana and throughout Albania

The Socialist Party does not accept the result announced by the Central
Election Commission for the mayoral race of the Albanian capital,
Tirana. Socialist leader Edi Rama said that the result was stolen in
front of the Albanians’ eyes, in the ugliest way possible. (UPDATE)

According to the opposition leader, what happened is a legal and arithmetical cannibalism.

“The votes inserted for the sole purpose of changing the result do not correspond with the voters list, and same thing goes for the total number of voters and the number of votes. Berisha has made a mistake in his calculations for stealing our May 8th victory”, Rama declared.

According to Edi Rama, the opposition will not back off by what he called a battle for law and democracy.

“It is out of question for the opposition to back off. We will not stop our efforts of reestablishing democracy”, Rama declared.

The Opposition leader said that Berisha is pressuring the Electoral College by using the State Police.

“The judges of the Electoral College have been surrounded by several police forces, not without a purpose. Who is Berisha protecting the judges from? From the opposition? The opposition has no conflict with the judges, but only with Berisha and the stolen votes, who aims to eliminate the Albanian citizens’ trust on elections and to hit the opposition, hoping do discourage the vital part of democracy, the opposition. This case is so flagrant that it is impossible for a professional judge to take from the people what they are entitled to”, Rama declared.

“If the Electoral College will not give the Albanians what they are entitled to, only one thing remains. What this people did not accept from Berisha I, will not be accepted from Berisha II either”, Rama declared.
