The public debt of Albania keeps going down, favored by the low-interest norms, the tightened government spending and Euro’s devaluation towards the Albanian Lek.

The Minister of Finances, Anila Denaj, reported in parliament that the public debt will drop at 64.7% of the GDP for this year, as compared to 67.2% that it was last year.

Albania’s public debt reached its peak in 2015 when it jumped at 73% of the GDP. But since that year it has kept dropping.

According to the Minister of Finances, the trajectory will continue during the next year as well, when the debt is expected to drop at 62.2% of the GDP. In 2021 it will go below 60%.
