Protest against racism

Roma community in Korça protested against racial discrimination denouncing the case of violent eviction of Roma people from the capital city, Tirana.

Old and young gathered in a peaceful protest and signed a petition against racism and discrimination of colored skin community.

Demanding support from the government and more efforts to be taken for the integration of this community, the protesters threw slogans against racism and distributed pamphlets for civil awareness.

“There’s no place for discrimination, but we are gathered today to make an appeal to all institutions and organizations to support the Roma community and stop racial discrimination.” explained Erjon Jakupi, coordinator of “Roma Activ”.

The Roma community in Korça chose the international day against racism to demand more rights for their people.
