Privatizations, Albania on sale

Prime Minister Sali Berisha asked his cabinet to make the
privatization process a priority, in order to finalize it by the end of this year.

The Prime Minister said that all state assets in private companies will be sold, and he also requested inspection of the financial terms for the privatization of INSIG insurance company.

By the end of this process that according to the prime minister will affects war against corruption and our country’s consolidation, the state will own only a small number of assets with strategic values.

“Albania will have as public property the big dikes, schools, hospitals, national parks and lands without an owner. Other properties will be under the ownership, administration and management of the private sector. This will make our economy more competitive”, Berisha declared.

The Prime Minister said that the privatization of 1280 objects is under inspection. He asked his dependents to be careful with the rights of previous owners.

“When these objects will have an owner, their rights must be fully respected before the purchase”, Berisha declared.

The government is preparing to concede the maintenance of Albanian motorways, based on European experience. The Prime Minister said that the state does not have sufficient capacities for maintaining them in optimal conditions.
