The Court of Serious Crimes has issued an arrest order for the former Chief of Police, Julian Balliu, suspected of being part of a criminal group and international drug traffic.

The Serious Crimes accepted the Prosecution’s request to give the same measure to Armelind Tufa, the 24-year-old, son of a police officer.

Several persons from southern Albania are also suspected of being part of a traffic network, for allegedly having collaborated to move 2.5 tons of cannabis to Italy.

11 other arrest measures are given for the same case, including one former official of the Fier Police, Festim lelaj, and two officers of the Durres Border Police and Customs.

The drug quantity was seized in Ancona and the investigation is being conducted by a joint team of prosecutors. There are suspicions that other officers are involved in this case.

Evidence show that the truck passed through the scanning process on November 9th, then it went back attaching a trailer which had the cannabis load.

The former chief of Police, Julian Balliu, was reported last week on Top Channel’s “Fiks Fare”, offering to traffic 200 grams of cocaine to repay an old debt.
