Pacolli’s Options

One day after Kosovo Constitutional Court pronounced Behgjet Pacolli’s Presidential election as unconstitutional, Kosovo Assembly Presidency was gathered and parliamentary group leaders discussed the constitutional options that can follow this decision.

But it seems that these options are not too many. Pacolli might expect a reelection session, but in case he will not get reelected, Jakup Krasniqi will return on presidential duty.

However, in case he will get reelected, opposition parties must be present on the Parliament session.  While Democratic League of Kosovo has not yet announced if they are going to participate, “Allied for the Future of Kosovo Party” and “Self Determination Movement” have already confirmed their boycott in case there will be a reelection parliamentary session.

“This infringement makes Pacolli one of the most disputed political personalities, who discusses Kosovo’s matters with Serbia. This is the reason why we will not be present”, says Self Determination deputy, Glauk Konjufca.

“Another option is the proposal of a new candidate. While the other candidate is selected, we can have free elections and modalities. We have six months for this, and during this time we can have someone else on the Presidential seat” proposed Adrian Gjini, parliamentary group leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo Party.

Xhavit Haliti, Kosovo Democratic Party deputy, vice Speaker of Parliament, declared that his institution will act according to the laws and fully respecting the Constitutional Court decision.
