Pacolli, presidential handover ceremony canceled

After this Saturday’s cancellation, Presidential handover ceremony between Behgjet Pacolli and Jakup Krasniqi wasn’t held even today.

Two press releases notified the cancellation one hour before it was supposed to start.

If “Alliance for a New Kosovo” (ANK) Saturday’s cancellation was justified by Mr. Pacolli’s objective reasons, this time, the reasoning was more complete.

“Behgjet Pacolli will not participate at the presidential handover ceremony, based on Constitution article no. 90 and based on the recent verdict of the Constitutional Court”, says ANK’s press release.

Constitution’s article 90 refers to a temporary absence of the President and to the occasion when the president is not able to perform his duty and he willingly hands it over to the Parliament Speaker.

But according to this party, this decision was undertaken based on the fact that Jakup Krasniqi has already started to perform his Presidential duty and Mr. Pacolli thinks that this ceremony would be unnecessary.

The Presidential Office also announces that the ceremony will not be held and Jakup Krasniqi continues to be the President of Kosovo after the Constitutional Court clarified the verdict.
