The Polish President, Andrzej Duda, says that the decision of this October regarding the EU accession negotiations for Albania and Northern Macedonia will be considered a test for the EU.

In a meeting with the Visegrad counterparts (Slovakia, Hungary, Czechia), Duda underlined that a clear definition of the membership criteria for the two Balkan countires is a test to show how an open UE would look like.

Present in this meeting was the President of Serbia and Slovenia.

“We are advocates of an open-door EU. We believe that this is the only way for Europe to prosper peacefully”, the Polish President declared.

The decision for Tiran and Skopje will be discussed on October 15th at the EU Council of Ministers.
