NATO starts accession talks with Macedonia

On October 18th, NATO will officially start the negotiation talks with Macedonia, despite the failure of the September 30th referendum.
However, 90% of those who voted in the referendum, were in favor of changing the name to Northern Macedonia, as agreed with Greece.
NATO made it clear that the name agreement should be ratified by Skopje and Athens as well, before Macedonia becomes the 30th member of the alliance.
The accession protocol might take one year.
