Bulqize miners are restarting their protest, asking ACR to sign an agreement with the syndication.

The miners do not give up to their requests for wage increase and improvement of the working conditions.

The miners gathered in front of the mine, where the Syndication Council announced the decision for continuing the protest until Monday, with the beginning of the new Parliamentary Session.

The Syndicate leaders asked the Parliament to discuss the Bulqize situation and the miners’ demands on their first session.

“We had a holiday and the honored lady had no right to abuse with Bayram, offering a dinner to the miners with the only purpose to make them break the strike and make them subdue”

ACR President’s invitation, colonialist and enslavement

The Syndication leader declared that the mineworkers consider the invitation of the ACR President as colonialist and enslavement.

The Syndication Council declared that if there will be no positive reaction by the Parliament, they will restart the hunger strike.

Miners to return at work

The President of the ACR Company, Rohtraut Skatsche-Depisch wished the miners a happy Fitr Bayram day, and expressed her trust that the difficult situation will be overcome through dialogue.

“ACR will cover Bayram dinner expenses, since the miners’ conditions have deteriorated”, the President declared, appealing the miners to return at work.

The President of the company declared that ACR accepted the miners’ request for a wage increase of 20%, promising to improve their working conditions.

After publishing the open letter, the head of the Syndication Confederation, Kol Nikolla considered the message for Bayram a simple formality.

“ACR should sign the agreement with the syndication in a legal way. Signing the agreement with ACR through illegal ways would be the best wish for the miners”, Nikolla declared, emphasizing that the protest would finish.

A few days earlier, the President of the Austrian Company visited the town of Bulqize in her efforts to find a solution to the conflict with the miners.

She was welcomed by the Company leaders and then asked the workers to create a representation of four miners who would negotiate the conflict resolution.

Due to the Company’s preconditions that this group should not have syndication leaders or previously sued miners, the negotiations failed.
