The President of Albania, Ilir Meta, explained why he didn’t authorize the Foreign Minister with the plenipotentiary to negotiate with Greece.

The President asks Minister Bushati to clearly specify the object of the request for plenipotentiary authorization, and give the names, profiles and professions of the negotiating members.

“The President cannot skip any detail. We cannot be part of any possible violation of the Constitution”, the President declared.

Top Channel asked President Meta if he is using this moment politically.

“The purpose of the president is not to make political games in the relations with neighbours. The President cannot be introduced to done deeds”, he answered.

Does Meta feel any pressure that his decision could delay the agreement which Prime Minister Rama and Tsipras are expected to sign in Korca this end of Spring?

“I wish success to him, but the agenda of any person cannot make me not do my job”, Meta declared.

The President underlined that the Constitution recognizes the right of the President to lead the negotiations, but this wasn’t his purpose since he didn’t feel an expert on the matter.
