Macedonia, Gruevski resigns from VMRO-DMPNE

Nikola Gruevski, leader of the VMRO-DMPNE since 2003, has resigned from his party after the recent central and local elections, which were in favor of Zoran Zaev.

Gruevsi’s reason for his resignation is exactly for the weak results in the local elections that were held this October. VMRO won only five out of 80 communes, the worst result since pluralism was established in early 90s.

The new leader of the biggest opposition party will be elected after two weeks.
