Kosovo on brink of political crisis

After the announcements that Alliance for a New Kosovo (ANK) is rethinking the coalition with the Kosovo Democratic Party (KDP), acting President Jakup Krasniqi declared that after the latest events, a new reality has taken life in Kosovo.

According to Krasniqi, this situation requires all political parties to strive for an urgent solution.

Kosovo’s Acting President said that early elections are not a solution at this moment, and that he is totally against this idea.

Krasniqi said that he has no information about any meeting being held between KDP and ANK.

Mr. Krasniqi’s reaction came after Behgjet Pacolli’s party canceled the ceremony of handling the office to Jakup Krasniqi, and published a press communicate saying that ANK was attending an inner meeting to review their stance on the governing coalition.

ANK leaders confirmed that this party and the members of the Coalition for a New Kosovo are reviewing the possibility of an immediate disengagement from the governing coalition with DPK, if the latter does not comply with the governing coalition agreement.

“We are currently reviewing our inner structure, in view of the new situation. You have already heard the Constitutional Court clarification, and we are now having inner consultations for a possible solution”, said the acting leader of ANK, Ibrahim Makolli.
