The home owners who oppose the construction of a new section on Tirana’s Bigger Ring Road protested in front of the city hall today, throwing smoke grenades, eggs and fireworks against the officers who had created a protective cordon.
The protest was being held as the Municipal Council was meeting inside. The SMI councilors, who should have been inside, supported the protesters.
“The 40 million EUR project is being given to clientelist companies. The citizens need to be compensated”, asid Kershnik Collaku, from the SMI, while his colleague, Erisa Xhixho, added that the government must keep its promise for compensating them properly.
